ASTERISC. Grup de Recerca en Comunicació

The communication research group ASTERISC was established in 2008. It has been recognised as a consolidated research group by the Government of Catalunya (SGR2009-1146 and SGR2014-0669) for the periods 2009-2016 and 2017-2019 (SGR2017-360). The group is currently in its 4th SGR accreditation period (SGR2021-108).

The research carried out by ASTERISC researchers is characterised by an approach to different fields through qualitative communicative evaluation methodologies, which position recipients as the true protagonists of communication and information processes, as well as by innovative and cross-cutting qualitative methodological approaches.

ASTERISC is committed to the centrality of communication in social, political, and economic activities. The group's coherence lies in the thematic structuring of its various research lines. Communication is understood as a central process of societal activity, with particular emphasis on new technologies and formats. Thematically, two major lines have been established that clearly reflect the uniqueness and plurality of our collective.
