EN QUÈ CONSISTEIX LA SIMULTANEÏTAT?

WHAT ARE SIMULTANEOUS STUDIES?

We offer our students the chance to simultaneously study one of three combinations of two degrees (Journalism and Audiovisual Communication, or Advertising and Public Relations and Journalism, or Audiovisual Communication and Advertising and Public Relations). We can do this because the communication programme has a number of common subjects which, once passed in one degree, can also count towards the other.

Simultaneous studies are not the same as a joint degree; instead, at the end of a simultaneous course of study (which normally lasts between 5 and 6 years), the student is awarded two separate degrees: one for each degree programme. There are a limited number of places for simultaneous studies (5 for each degree programme).

It is important not to confuse choosing simultaneous studies with choosing to change your course or degree, which, at the DEC, simply means applying to study a different degree within the same programme of study.

A PARTIR DE QUAN PUC DEMANAR LA SIMULTANEÏTAT?

WHEN CAN I APPLY FOR SIMULTANEOUS STUDIES?

You can apply for simultaneous studies once you have passed 60 credits of your programme of study. You should apply at the end of the second or third year, as the first and second-year subjects are common to all three degrees, and therefore you only need to take them once.

You cannot apply for simultaneous studies in the year that you are due to complete your degree.

COM PUC DEMANAR LA SIMULTANEÏTAT?

HOW CAN I APPLY FOR SIMULTANEOUS STUDIES?

To be eligible to apply for simultaneous studies, you must first apply to change your study programme within the same Bachelor's Programme: https://www.urv.cat/ca/estudis/graus/tramits/proc-canvi-estudi-mateix-prog-for-grau/

IMPORTANT: You must indicate in the 'observations' section of your application that you wish to undertake simultaneous studies.

There are two application periods:

Phase 1: from 1 to 30 April

Phase 2: from 10 to 17 June (only if places remain)

Given that both degree courses are at taught the same faculty, once you have been awarded a place on the additional degree, the transfer for simultaneous registration is processed automatically.

HOW MUCH DO SIMULTANEOUS STUDIES COST?

QUINES ASSIGNATURES EM PODEN RECONÈIXER?

WHICH SUBJECTS CAN COUNT TOWARDS MORE THAN ONE DEGREE?

You can find the subjects that can count towards more than one degree at the following link: https://www.urv.cat/ca/estudis/graus/admissio/reconeixements/reconeixements-lletres/#grau-publicitat-rel-pub-com-audiov-periodisme

In summary, all core subjects can be recognised. This includes all first and second-year subjects, the third-year core subjects, and the fourth-year optional subjects that are shared between the two degrees you are studying simultaneously.

Please note that you have to do both the Bachelor's Thesis and the External Academic Internships for both degrees (300 hours of practice for each degree in the relevant field and with different companies); therefore, these subjects can never count towards more than one degree.

QUAN DURA LA SIMULTANEÏTAT?

HOW LONG DO SIMULTANEOUS STUDIES LAST?

As mentioned previously, both degrees can be completed in 5 years or a little more, for example if you leave one of the bachelor's theses until September of the sixth year or take the last optional subjects in the first semester of the sixth year.

COM ES REPARTEIXEN LES ASSIGNATURES, QUIN CRITERI PER DECIDIR/ESCOLLIR L'ITINERARI?

HOW ARE THE SUBJECTS DISTRIBUTED? WHAT CRITERIA ARE USED TO DECIDE/CHOOSE THE PATHWAY?

Each student freely chooses the subjects they wish to register for. In accordance with the regulations, for simultaneous studies the minimum number of credits that students can register for is set at 30 for each degree. You can only register for fewer than 30 credits if you are also having previous credits recognised in the same year. The maximum number of credits is 72. The student must consult the curriculum and subject timetables for each degree they wish to pursue in order to avoid any overlaps. https://www.fll.urv.cat/ca/informacio-per-a/estudiants/horaris/

SI FAIG SIMULTANEÏTAT PUC FER MOBILITAT?

IF I STUDY TWO DEGREES AT THE SAME TIME, CAN I GO ON A MOBILITY EXCHANGE?

Yes, but you should bear in mind that when you apply for a mobility exchange you will be doing so for only one of the two degrees, so the courses you take on the mobility exchange will be those of that degree and you can only ask to have them count toward the other degree if they meet the shared requirement.
